Each November, during Pancreatic Cancer Awareness Month, people around the globe unite on World Pancreatic Cancer Day to highlight the need for greater awareness, funding, and research for pancreatic cancer. On World Pancreatic Cancer Day (WPCD) we are asking people to take action to raise awareness about pancreatic cancer, the symptoms and risks of this disease and the urgent need for earlier detection.
World Pancreatic Cancer Day will take place on November 19, 2020
Since the creation of World Pancreatic Cancer Coalition (WPCC) and World Pancreatic Cancer Day 2015, Immunovia has been joining all the efforts to raise awareness of pancreatic cancer around the globe. Immunovia is proud to have sponsored several Pancreatic Cancer Awareness activities and walks over the years – in Sweden, UK, Spain, Germany and throughout the U.S. – to support the engagement of the patient organizations. Together we aim to raise awareness about this deadly cancer.
Immunovia iWALK around the world for pancreatic cancer awareness
Due to Covid-19 and the increased need for social distancing, we have chosen to not promote the physical gathering of large crowds and instead transfer our activities and commitment to a virtual walk campaign: Immunovia Walk.
We aim to walk 40 075 km between end of July until World Pancreatic Cancer Day November 19, 2020.
Many thanks to all of you who participates in our iWalk campaign and register kilometers. Together we can make a difference. Every step counts!
Immunovia has brought together the voices of survivors, their family members and friends, patient organizations and clinicians into a short iWalk movie covering the contributions from the registered iWalks for pancreatic cancer awareness. The Immunovia iWalk movie was released on World Pancreatic Cancer Day on November 19, 2020.

Immunovia sponsors an educational online webinar organized by PALEMA, the Swedish patient association, which highlights the latest updates in surgery and immunotherapy for pancreatic cancer. The online webinar will take place on November 19 between 5.00 – 8.00 PM (CET). The presentations will be mostly in Swedish. If you would like to participate, please register at PALEMA’s website: https://palema.org/aktivitet/webbinarium-det-senaste-inom-kirurgi-och-immunterapi-for-pankreascancer/?instance_id=415
This year, Immunovia joins the “Light it Purple” initiative again, where landmarks throughout the world are lit purple to honor World Pancreatic Cancer Day and raise awareness of the signs and symptoms of pancreatic cancer.
To date, over 200 landmarks in all 50 states in the United States and 3 provinces in Canada have agreed to participate. Additional landmarks are being confirmed every day so make sure to view the map to track our progress and to see who will be participating near you!
Immunovia welcomes any assistance taking photos of participating landmarks in your area. As you recognize the day, please take a photo and post on social media with hashtags #wpcd and #immunovia. We look forward seeing all the purple on November 19th, 2020!
Immunovia continues to sponsor the ‘Striding for Survival’ virtual walk in 2020 coordinated by Pancreatic Cancer Action (PCA). All Immunovia employees are wearing their PCA t-shirts together with thousands of others around the UK to dedicate their activity to raising awareness of pancreatic cancer. See #stridingforsurvival on all social media channels and https://pancreaticcanceraction.org/about/early-diagnosis/ for more information.
A google map with all the purple lights being lit up in the UK for world pancreatic cancer day can be found at https://purplelightsuk.org/
Immunovia will as last year participate in the ”cities race” activity organized by ACANPAN, the Spanish association of patients with pancreatic cancer (Carrera de las ciudades contra el cáncer de páncreas – http://carreracancerpancreas.es). This year the run will be a virtual event which takes place between November 19 to 22, 2020. So far, in the various editions, 40.127 people have participated in 6 different cities, running for 218.574 km and raising 540.000 EUR for research in pancreatic cancer.
In collaboration with the World Pancreatic Cancer Coalition Immunovia has created a dedicated website in Spanish to raise awareness of the signs and symptoms of pancreatic cancer. https://www.interlid.biz/spanish#/sintomas-y-riesgos-del-cancer-de-pancreas/
Austria and Germany have joined the Immunovia iWalk campaign: private persons, survivors and their relatives, members of patient organizations, several PDAC clinicians including a dedicated walking group of the PDAC center in Bochum. The pancreas patient organization, TEB e.V. Selbsthilfe (Tumore und Erkrankungen der Bauchspeicheldrüse) created their own German WPCD walking initiative Deutschland läuft für den Welt-Pankreaskrebstag based on Immunovias’s iWalk campaign. They generously donated 2000 km to Immunovia’s iWalk.
During the main digital symposium of the 7th German World Pancreatic Cancer Day, organized by TEB e.V. Selbsthilfe, Immunovia is proud to participate in the podium discussion “Findings, Movement, Progress” to discuss news about improvements today and tomorrow for pancreatic cancer patients and their families. Session will be recorded, and published on the official website https://welt-pankreaskrebstag.de/.
Due to Corona pandemic, local digital seminars and several “light-it-purple”actions, are organized by PDAC hospitals and by the two pancreas patient organizations, AdP e.V. (AdP Veranstaltungen) and TEB e.V. (TEB Veranstaltungen)
